Week 2

The second week of class was even more exciting! We cut, shaped, beveled, and placed the stem and transom (the first actual parts of the boat!). We planed out the oars to completion. We began to shape and plane the rudder and tiller. We built bat houses. And perhaps most excitingly, we cut, scarfed, planed, bent, beveled and placed the chines on the molds. This was also the week in which we began to finish the day not just with the usual cleanup and recap, but with journal writing, which helps to reinforce what we've all learned (and which is lots of fun).
